Ellie Goulding celebrates Dougie Poynter's sobriety milestone
She gushes about her boyfriend
Currently dominating the charts and airwaves with her Fifty Shade of Grey song ‘Love Me Like You Do’, Ellie Goulding had something else to celebrate at the weekend.
The songstress took to Instagram yesterday to gush about her McBusted boyfriend Dougie Poynter’s four-year anniversary of being sober. Sharing a pic of a smiling Dougie wearing a bandanna, Ellie told her four million followers: “This amazing man is four years sober today. What a legend.”
27-year-old Dougie entered rehab in 2011 where he was treated for depression and alcohol addiction.
Dougie told the Daily Mirror a year later: "I'm not missing the booze. I had to give up because I always took it too far. Now I'm clear-headed, I like being hangover-free - I get a lot more achieved.
"Once you get through that barrier at events and nights out, you realise you aren't getting drunk and it's fine.
"(Rehab) is one of the best things I've ever done in my whole life. I'm still me but it's definitely been very positive. I don't know how I've changed. I try not to really think too much about it.”
Shortly after beating his booze demons, Dougie appeared on I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! and won the reality show.
Ellie and Dougie are currently in Australia where McBusted are supporting One Direction on the On the Road Again Tour.
Following sold-out, triumphant shows in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, the tour hits Adelaide AAMI Stadium tomorrow night.
