Liam Payne has fired back and defended himself after a song believed to be his debut solo single was leaked.

The track, entitiled 'You' features Wiz Khalifa and Juicy J and was leaked on Soundcloud last night. Unsurprisingly fans of the former 1D man went into complete meltdown upon hearing the song.

Fans of Liam were quick to compliment him on his vocals and stated they couldn’t wait for the full release.

However, despite the meltdown, Liam later took to Twitter to put the record straight about the track, claiming it is not his single. He went on to say ‘Guess I need to protect my projects better… They don’t even let you finish these days’.

Rumours began to circulate of Liam’s solo career shortly after One Direction announced their hiatus.

Just last month, music mogel and close friend, Simon Cowell, confirmed all of the One Direction boys will have solo projects coming up in the near future.

When asked about it in an interview with E! News, The X Factor judge replied “Yeah, there will be more, I’m absolutely sure of that.”

When Liam does release his official material, he will be hoping to mirror the success his former band mate, Zayn Malik has achieved. Since leaving the band, Zayn has smashed the charts with his debut album ‘Mind Of Mine’ and gained serious praise from the music industry.

So it turns out Liam song isn’t the finished deal, but we can’t wait to hear his solo material!
