Fans thought the pair had announced they were expecting
One Direction fans went into complete meltdown last night when they mistakenly thought Liam Payne and Cheryl had confirmed rumours they were expecting a baby.
Hundreds of fans congratulated the couple on social media using the hashtag ‘#CongratsLiam’ until they released it wasn’t quite the news they first thought…
The real news was that the former One Direction man has signed a recording deal with Republic Records in North America, the same label who host mega pop acts such as Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj.
The news comes as fans are convinced the pair, who have been dating since February, are expecting their first child together. Rumours have been on overdrive in recent weeks and were fuelled even further earlier in the month when Cheryl appeared to be sporting a small bump during an appearance.
The former X Factor judge attended the L’Oréal Gold Obsession party where she stunned in a black jumpsuit. She was then spotted covering her ‘bump’ with an oversized coat as she travelled back from Paris.
Louis Walsh recently admitted he thinks Liam is the best thing that’s ever happened to Cheryl and thinks the pair will last the distance. Speaking to Event magazine, he said "Can I be honest with you about Cheryl? I think Liam and Cheryl are going to work. He's a nice guy and he's in love with her. He'll make her happy. I think she was in a bad place over the last two years."
According to reports, Cheryl will eventually finalise her divorce from French businessman Jean Bernard Fernandez-Versini this week. Sources close to the singer have revealed that after months of debate, the former couple have agreed the terms and are both ready to move on.
The divorce is expected to be finalised on Thursday 20th October.
