Russell Brand cancels tour after his mum suffers 'multiple life-threatening' injuries

Comedian Russell Brand has revealed he's made the decision to cancel his 'Russell Brand Re:Birth' tour following a recent car accident that has left his 71-year-old mum Barbara with multiple life-threatening injuries.

Taking to his Instagram account to break the news in an emotional video, Russell revealed his mum was involved in a 'really serious road accident', leading her to have 'polytraumatic injuries'.

Captioning the video with 'Re:Birth delayed or cancelled due to my Mum’s accident', Russell said, "I won't be able to do the rest of my Re:Birth tour. If you've got tickets they will be refunded or possibly rescheduled, but i can't really imagine performing at the moment because I feel to sad and connected to this. I apologise, but of course it is circumstances beyond my control."

Russell then spoke about how his mum has had cancer six times, with her last chemotherapy session only taking place one month ago.

In a second video posted to his account, Russell went on to thank the NHS for saving his mum's life and praised them for the way they operate by calling them the 'soul of this country'.

The 42-year-old then revealed he won't be on social media for a while, and asked his fans to keep his mum Barbara Brand in their thoughts and in their hearts.

Upon hearing the news, fans were quick to send their messages of support to both Russell and his mum.

One user wrote, 'Sending positive vibes and love to you, your mum and family ✌🏼', with another adding, 'There’s a lot of love - going out to you and your family - know that includes me. I’m so saddened to hear of the worry that you and your family are going through.' sic

With messages continuing to flood in, another wrote, 'Good luck dude. Hope everything goes well. Sure it will, she sounds like a fighter!! X' sic
