ZAYN defends Taylor Swift after 'Look What You Made Do' backlash

Former One Direction star ZAYN has defended Taylor Swift after her music video for 'Look What You Made Me Do' came under criticism for resembling Beyoncé’s 'Formation' video in places.

The 24-year-old singer has responded to the backlash telling FADER "I did a song with her, it was fun, she was professional. She gets on with my girlfriend, they’re good friends. I don’t have a bad word to say about her. She’s cool."

ZAYN teamed up with Taylor last year for the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack song 'I Don’t Wanna Live Forever' for which the pair won an MTV VMA in August for Best Collaboration.

ZAYN went on to say, "I rate her as an artist, I think she’s cool, I think she’s successful, and I think she deserves her success because she’s worked hard. That’s just how I look at it."

Taylor's music video for 'Look What You Made Do' was full of hidden messages including throwing shade at Kanye West and 'killing off' her reputation.

However despite the criticism from some that she 'copied' Beyoncé's 'Formation' video it hasn't stopped her fans coming forward wanting to own the ‘I heart T.S’ t-shirts featured in the video which are now available to buy!

Since its release ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ or ‘LWYMMD’ to fans has smashed streaming and video records. The video has amassed a seriously impressive 184 million views on YouTube and was played an estimated 39 million times in the 24 hours after its release.

That’s 12 million times more than Adele’s ‘Hello’ which previously held the record for most online plays in 24 hours with 27 million plays.

‘Look What You Made Me Do’ is the first single from Taylor’s forthcoming album ‘Reputation’ and it was quickly followed by a surprise second single 'Ready For It' which dropped just a week after her comeback single. ‘Reputation’ is set for release on 10th November.

Whilst Taylor has been dropping singles left, right and centre, ZAYN has been busy with the release of his new single featuring Australian singer Sia, 'Dusk Till Dawn'.

ZAYN dropped his second single this year on the 7th September having teased his new music after winning at the MTV VMAs in August. 'Dusk Till Dawn' comes from his forthcoming second solo album which is the follow up to his 2015 album 'Mind of Mine'.

When he's not busy in the studio it seems ZAYN is keen to try out some new hairstyles having surprised his fans over the last few weeks. First of all he ditched his longer dark hair for a shorter bleached blond buzz cut and then shaved his head all together!

ZAYN's mum Trisha posted her son's new hairstyle in a photo on her Instagram page. The cute snap showed Trisha kissing his head as he posed alongside his model girlfriend Gigi Hadid.

ZAYN left One Direction in March 2015 before the rest of the band started their hiatus in January 2016. Here we see the boys' journey from One Direction to their solo careers.
