A prequel to the absolute classic book and film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is currently in talks to be made. The new flick, which is currently being developed by Warner Bros., will take a look back at the life of Willy Wonka before the events of the beloved book.

The classic 1971 film, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, and the newer 2005 remake introduce us to Willy Wonka as the very eccentric owner of a chocolate factory - and fans of both can admit that the late, great Gene Wilder played the role perfectly.

But even in the novel and its sequel, both written by much-loved children's author Roald Dahl, we barely get any scraps of information about the enigmatic entrepreneur.

However, that's all set to change with the new film, which is being led by Paddington director Paul King and Harry Potter producer David Heyman.

But according to Collider, the film bosses are struggling to pick between three men for the lead role - Donald Glover, Ezra Miller and Ryan Gosling.

All three of them have plenty of experience and charisma, although Donald is apparently making a strong play for the role - despite the fact that he has a rather hectic schedule coming up as he begins filming for the live action Disney remake of The Lion King in which he'll be playing the lead role of Simba.
