Adele’s ‘21’ has officially sold more copies in the UK than any other album this millennium.

The ‘Someone Like You’ singer has shifted an astonishing 4,740,000 copies of her second album to date, according to The Official Charts Company.

This easily places her ahead of Amy Winehouse’s iconic ‘Back To Black’ album which is runner-up, selling 3,560,000 copies since its 2006 release.

James Blunt is third place with ‘Back To Bedlam’ which has gained 3,310,000 copies, with Leona Lewis’s ‘Spirit’ and Dido’s ‘No Angel’ completing the top five.

The Beatles, Lady Gaga, Coldplay, Michael Buble and Ed Sheeran all appear in the top ten.

Adele’s ‘21’ has spent 23 weeks at the top of the UK album charts since its 2011 release. However her success is not just limited to the UK, with ‘21’ topping charts in more than 30 countries and selling more than 11 million copies in the US alone.

Fans of Adele may have to wait for the follow-up to ‘21’ however as it was reportedly delayed until late 2015.
