According to new reports, TV bosses have made the decision to cancel Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly's new ancestry TV show, following Ant's arrest for drink driving earlier this month.

The show, which the pair haven't yet finished filming, has reportedly been 'shelved' as it involves both Ant and Dec drinking alcohol.

Named Ant and Dec's DNA Journey, the show was set to follow the pair as they looked into their family trees and history. The popular duo first starting filming for the show in May last year, but now it looks like it won't be shown on TV at all.

It comes after ITV released a statement confirming Ant will be stepping down from TV for the foreseeable future. It read, "Ant has decided to go back into treatment and step down from his current TV commitments. He has spoken with Dec and ITV today and asked for time off for the foreseeable future.

"ITV has taken a joint decision with Ant and Dec’s team not to broadcast Saturday Night Takeaway this weekend. We will be reviewing options for the last two episodes of the series which would not feature Ant who is taking time off to seek treatment. We very much hope that he gets the help that he needs."

Fans of the pair were also left concerned earlier today when the brand new Britain's Got Talent trailer dropped online, with both Ant and Dec missing from it.

Although the boys have already filmed most of the audition rounds for the 2018 series, the new trailer only stars judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams.

With Ant back in rehab and Britain's Got Talent due to start next month, ITV are yet to confirm who will be hosting the live rounds of the show.

After Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway was taken off air last week, the popular show will return on Saturday night with Dec presenting on his own.

After his best friend's arrest last week, Dec released the following statement, 'Whilst I never thought I'd be in this position, after much discussion and careful consideration we've decided that the remaining two shows of this series of Saturday Night Takeaway will go ahead.

'We made a promise to take hundreds of deserving winners to Florida to watch the series finale, and we will honour that. Everyone at ITV and the Takeaway team feels we owe it to the audience to complete the series. Dec x' sic

In happier news, Dec announced he is going to become a dad for the first time with his wife Ali Astall.

Sharing the news with his fans on Sunday evening, Dec shared a photo of the couple on their wedding day and wrote, 'Just wanted to say thank you for all the lovely messages. The news has sneaked out a little earlier than we had hoped but Ali and I are delighted to be expecting our first child. Thanks for all the love, we really appreciate it ❤️ D x'. sic

Dec will return to our TV screens on Saturday night at 7pm as he presents the penultimate episode of Saturday Night Takeaway.
