Councils in Bristol came up with a genius and lovely idea to help encourage social distancing in their parks, creating socially-distanced hearts on the grass.

The cute hearts, which are three metres wide, are situated two metres apart from each other and so far have appeared in Castle Park, College Green and Queen's Square in Bristol.

The initiative is part of #BristolTogether and it was set up by leaders and local businesses in the city to help maintain the spread of the virus which brought the world to a standstill.

There were 374 giant hearts pained on the grass with white spray paint in 2020

After months of being shut due to Boris Johnson's lockdown rules, pubs, restaurants, hairdressers, cinemas, places of worship, hotels, museums and galleries, community centres, bingo halls, outdoor playgrounds and many more were allowed to re-open to the public from Saturday 4th July 2020.

Of course, new rules and procedures have been put in place by these businesses in order for them to open safely, with a Track and Trace system in place across the country.
