Harry Potter and the Cursed Child wins big in record triumph at the Olivier Awards

It won a record nine awards!

'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child' broke records at the Olivier Awards.

The incredible Olivier Awards took place at the Royal Albert Hall last night, to celebrate the very best of UK theatre. And it's safe to say that one show blew everyone else out of the water!

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child won an incredible nine awards, surpassing The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time and Matilda The Musical as the highest-winning shows in the honours' history.

The theatrical adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s wizarding series picked up the awards for Virgin Atlantic Best New Play, as well as Best Actor for Jamie Parker (Harry Potter), Best Actress & Actor in a Supporting Role for Noma Dumezweni and Anthony Boyle (Hermione and Scorpius Malfoy), Best Director for John Tiffany, and all four design awards (White Light Award for Best Lighting Design, Best Sound Design, Best Costume Design & Blue-i Theatre Technology Award for Best Set Design).

We managed to sneak in a chat with Best Director John Tiffany, who told us an incredible story about accidentally meeting J.K. Rowling before she was famous.

We also chatted to the amazing Best Actress in a Supporting Role winner Noma Dumezweni, about her love for her character Hermione.

And of course we couldn't leave without chatting to Harry Potter himself! Best Actor nominee Jamie Parker told us about the pressure he felt to create something vivid before performing the play to an audience.
