Hollywood legend Dick Van Dyke has added a new skill to his repertoire by learning to play the ukulele. The 97-year-old was praised by fans after a video posted to his Instagram page showed him trying to master the instrument.

Saying that it was 'never too late to start something new', the video shows Dick strumming the ukulele as he tries to find the 'F' chord. The star can be heard asking his instructor: "Where's the F?"

Captioning the video, he revealed that his wife Arlene Silver was also learning with him. He said: 'My first ukulele lesson with @getstartedplayingukulele. @bijoubox's third. It's never too late to start something new.'

Many fans took to the comments section to show their love for the video and congratulate Dick. One person wrote: 'There is a special place for this amazing soul, incomparable grace, kindness and talent.'

Someone else added: 'Love that you're still trying new things! A lesson in how to stay young.' Another fan wrote: 'Amen! I started tap dancing at age 60. I'll never win any awards for it, but I'm having fun.'

One person commented: 'At almost 53, I feel like I'm too old to take piano lessons. Seeing you try this, encourages me. You continue to bring joy into my life. Thank you.'

Earlier this year, Dick delighted fans when he appeared on the US version of The Masked Singer. The actor, who has starred in films including Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, was revealed as the character 'Gnome', after performing a rendition of 'When You're Smiling.'
