Brass band's social distancing session goes viral

The group aren't letting lockdown get in the way

With social distancing rules in place, everyone's usual social commitments have gone out the window but one group have found a way to continue their usual band practice; the results have gone viral.

Easington Colliery Brass Band, which has been going for 105 years, have gone viral thanks to an emotional performance of two classic miners tracks. All 28 members were tasked with reversing a special arrangement of Gresford and Blaydon Races, North East classics.

With help from musical director Daniel Brooks, the result is sensational. Once everyone recorded their version, Daniel pieced together every performance and uploaded it across social media where it's gained thousands of views.

Speaking about the performance, the band's secretary Peter Lawson said: "We didn't want everyone to be stuck at home, stagnating with no rehearsal, and we don't know how long this could go on for, it could be the death knell for banding"

The performance has now been seen nearly 25,000 times from people all around the world, with people thanking the band for bringing a tear and a smile during tough times.
