The new Disney animation Moana is due out next week and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson proves he has quite a singing voice!

Natalie from our Entertainment team caught up with star of the film Auli’i Cravalho, who won the part of Moana, having beaten off competition from hundreds of hopefuls.

Moana is a 16-year-old girl growing up on an island where voyaging is forbidden, and she is desperate to find out what is beyond the sea. She decides to embark on a mission to become a wayfinder. Whilst on her travels, she comes across the once-mighty demi-god Maui (Dwayne Johnson).

Speaking to Natalie, Auli’i describes Moana as a "kick-butt heroine" who hits a demi-god with a paddle. Go Moana!

The native Hawaiian explained how she didn't actually meet Dwayne until the filming had finished, and said it was "really incredible" getting the chance to finally meet the person whose voice she had been hearing for about a year during the recording of the film.

Natalie also interviewed the co-directors of the film, Ron Clements and John Musker, who explained how they managed to get the former professional wrestler to sing!

Grammy Award-winning composer Lin-Manuel Miranda began her work with Dwayne by looking at his previous singing experience. By writing for his vocal range, the composer helped the wrestler-come-actor deliver an exceptional performance for the part of Maui.
