Will Smith could star as the Genie in the live-action Aladdin movie

This will be EXCELLENT!

Will Smith is tipped to play the Genie in the live-action Aladdin movie.

Following the huge success of live-action Disney remakes of The Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast, it looks like the 1992 hit Aladdin will now be getting the same treatment!

Mysteriously, on the movie site 'IMDB', Will Smith's name is featured under the cast list. The actor was reportedly lined up to take part in Dumbo, until scheduling conflicts with Bad Boys III meant he had to pull out. However, as that project has suffered a setback as they search for a director, it seems it has paved the way for Will to star in Aladdin!

Director Guy Ritchie has said of the project: "My stories are really about street hustlers. That's what I know how to do. And Aladdin is a classic street hustler who makes good."

The Genie was originally voiced by Robin Williams, who improvised a lot of his lines and made the character so memorably quirky. It will be interesting to see what spin the Men In Black star puts on the role!

We are yet to find out who the rest of the cast will be; however the Aladdin directors are reportedly searching for two relatively unknown actors to play Aladdin and Princess Jasmine.

Disney's latest live-action release, Beauty and the Beast, has become the first film of 2017 to gross $1 billion worldwide. So whoever they choose to play the two leading roles, they probably won't be so unknown after its release!

There will also be a new take on The Lion King, directed by Jon Favreau, who directed the live-action version of The Jungle Book. The remake will also see James Earl Jones reprise his role as Mufasa!

We cannot WAIT! 🐯
