West End smash hit Matilda the Musical is doing its first UK tour

It's coming to Birmingham, Sunderland, Manchester and more!

'Matilda the Musical' is touring the UK and Ireland in 2018.

The West End smash-hit Matilda the Musical will be departing from its home in London, to tour the UK and Ireland in March 2018! The RSC has confirmed that the show will launch in Leicester on 5th March and run for three weeks.

It will then visit Dublin Bord Gais Energy Theatre (4th-28th April), Sunderland (8th May-2nd June), Milton Keynes (5th-30th June), Birmingham (3rd July-8thSeptember), Manchester (18th September-24th November) and Cardiff (4th December-12th January 2019), with further dates and locations to be announced.

Writer Dennis Kelly said: "I'm delighted that we get to take Matilda around the UK and to Ireland. We have some fantastic theatres in this country and in Ireland, supported by smart, engaged audiences and we can't wait to bring this crazy, messy, anarchic explosion of a show to them."

Book writer and lyricist Tim Minchin said: "I'm utterly thrilled that audiences in cities all across the UK and Ireland will now share and be part of Matilda's story."

Since its debut in the West End six years ago, the Roald Dahl musical has won seven 2012 Olivier Awards, including Best New Musical, and five 2013 Tony Awards. The show is also currently touring Australia and the US!

Matilda the Musical is currently available for bookings at the Cambridge Theatre, London until December 2017. Tickets for the UK tour will go on sale on 26th April, and the tour will open on 5th March 2018 at Curve, Leicester.
