Have you seen Elmerus Maximus?

Dean Taxis' amazing Elmer is Elmerus Maximus. The Elmer is a friendly roman soldier, referencing Hadrian’s Wall and particularly the Roman forts in Tyne and Wear illustrated by the incredible Evelyn Sinclair!

While not welcome at the time, the Romans contributed new sophisticated flavours, ideas and technology to ancient British society, as did the Vikings, the Saxons and all the other people who have since come to our shores.

The diversity of these influences blend together to make our history and our current culture so rich and fascinating.

Evelyn Sinclair is a graduate of Glasgow School of Art. She has a wealth of varied experience. Her favourite kind of project is one that will make people smile - just one of the reasons she loves painting sculptures for charity art trails.

As Elmer's Great North Trail draws to a close, we wanted to look at some of the amazing work St Oswald's do, and encourage everyone who can to get out onto the trail before it ends on the 1st November.

St Oswald's Children's Hospice care for babies, children and young adults with progressive, life shortening conditions from across the north east. Their team of skilled staff provide residential short breaks to local families. Up to six children and young adults can stay at any one time in the relaxed, home-from-home environment. Children can enjoy a range of fun activities like sensory play, music therapy, arts and crafts, baking and exciting trips out like bowling, or to the cinema.

We are so proud to support such an incredible charity, and we've absolutely loved following the Herd.
