The largest choir in the world have put their spin on an iconic Christmas hit in a bid to raise vital funds for MFR's Cash for Kids Mission Christmas appeal. Rock Choir have released their rendition of Wizzard's track 'I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday', after being given the blessing of the band's very own Roy Wood.

Rock Choir released their version of Wizzard's 1973 song on 1st December as they make a bid for the top spot of the charts. Despite the song currently being in its 50th anniversary year, it has never reached Number 1.

Announcing the release of their new song, Rock Choir wrote on social media: '🎄 Exciting News! Our Christmas single just dropped! 🎅

'✨If you're passionate about spreading holiday cheer, sign up to be a Choir Leader and be a part of something magical!🎤 Let's make this festive season unforgettable together! 🌟'.

The song is sung by the creator of Rock Choir, Caroline Redman Lusher, along with The Rock Choir Vocal Group - also known as The Rock Choir Leaders, who are all professional musicians that teach the 30,000 Rock Choir members across 400 UK locations.

Members from across the country have been fundraising in their weekly choir practices, as well as collecting toys for the Mission Christmas appeal. The choirs will also be performing the song at Christmas events across the country as they raise funds for Cash For Kids.

Speaking about the single, Roy Wood said: "It's the 50th anniversary of 'I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday', and it's such a well-loved, timeless song still to this day. As a songwriter and artist, it's great when other artists want to release your songs.

"When creator of Rock Choir, Caroline Redman Lusher, came to me earlier this year and asked for my blessing to release it, I was immediately happy to give her the thumbs up! I'm delighted all the proceeds will be donated to charity. I know Rock Choir has raised millions over the years for charity, and I hope that the Cash For Kids, Mission Christmas appeal will benefit hugely from this release."

Lauren Baxter, Cash For Kids Partnership Manager, added: "We are thrilled to have been chosen as the beneficiary of the 2023 Rock Choir's Christmas single! Rock Choir members from all over the UK are working tirelessly to raise as much as they can to ensure that no child goes without a gift on Christmas Day.

"In 2022, Cash For Kids Mission Christmas helped 270,728 children living in poverty, and with the help and support of wonderful organisations such as Rock Choir, we hope to make a difference to even more children this year. A huge thanks from all of us."

Caroline Redman Lusher, creator and creative director of Rock Choir, said: "Celebrating 50 years since its release, our Rockies have really enjoyed learning the song and are excited to perform it to the general public during this year's festive season!

"We are delighted to support the Mission Christmas appeal with Cash For Kids and hope we can help make a huge difference to the lives of many children this Christmas. I hope everyone will get behind this song and project and maybe even gift Roy Wood with a Number 1 Christmas single this year!"
