Apple, makers of the popular iPhone and iPad, have released details of their new update which will be coming later this year and there are quite a few big changes.

The most significant change in the update is Apple's decision to end support for some older devices, including the iPhone 5 and 5C.

iOS 11 will be released this autumn and is said to be the biggest software release ever for the iPad allowing for powerful multitasking.

For iPhone users the introduction of the Do Not Disturb While Driving option will be a big change for drivers, while the new Apple Pay function will be handy for a number of users to easily transfer cash.

Do Not Disturb While Driving

This new feature will stop drivers being distracted by calls, texts and other notifications. The iPhone can detect when you might be driving and automatically silence notifications to keep the screen dark. There will also be the option to set up an auto-reply that your Favourites will receive when they send you a message.

Pay Friends with Apple Pay

If you're already set up with Apple Pay you will be able to pay your friends by either asking Siri to do it for you, or sending them a message. The money will go into a new Apple Pay Cash account, which you can use to pay for other things, or transfer to your bank account.

Other additions to the operating system include the introduction of indoor maps to Apple Maps, AirPlay 2 offering multi-room audio and a redesigned App Store.
