12% of people in Scotland eat Christmas dinner on the sofa

Where do you eat yours?

Christmas dinner is a long-standing tradition and whether you eat turkey, another festive meat or vegetarian alternative, it's usually eaten at the dining room table.

However in recent years traditions have been forgotten and a recent survey by ScS found that 8% now decline a festive roast in favour of a takeaway (18%), pie or pizza, with 12.1% of those in Scotland eating their dinner on the sofa.

The sofa and carpet specialists have found that 7% of those surveyed said they would go out on a big night on Christmas Eve, meaning - unsurprisingly, 13% also said they would stay in their pyjamas rather than getting dressed on the big day.

The Victorian tradition of spending Christmas (and a week either side) with your family is beginning to dwindle with 9% of us now choosing to spend Christmas with our friends instead of family.

When it comes to home entertainment a massive 40% say they would still opt to watch a festive classic such as Home Alone or It's a Wonderful Life, however 16% said they would rather watch a non-Christmassy film such as a rom-com or even a horror or thriller!
