6 things you didn't know about Call of Duty

For fans who have followed the franchise over the past 12 years November has become synonymous with the new Call of Duty release.

To help pass the time until the game's release we have some fun facts that you probably didn't know about the Call of Duty games.

So, let's start with possibly the most talked about map Nuketown which will be returning in the latest release.

1. Nuketown was inspired by an Indiana Jones film-----------------------------------------------------

Nuketown originally appeared in the 2010 game Black Ops and was inspired by the Doom Town testing site from Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, a clip from the film is below.

2. Well known actors have given their voices to characters--------------------------------------------------------------

The Call of Duty franchise has used a number of well known actors for their voices including: Michael Keaton (Batman/Black Ops II), Kevin Spacey (House of Cards/Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare), Sam Worthington (Avatar/Black Ops and Black Ops II), Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight/Call of Duty franchise), Ed Harris (Apollo 13/Black Ops), Ice Cube (Boyz in the Hood/Black Ops) and many others. Jeff Goldblum is a voice actor in Black Ops III.

3. A Call of Duty game was released just for China------------------------------------------------------

Call of Duty Online was a game released for the Chinese market in 2014, it was a free to play title and combined elements from previous Call of Duty titles.

4. Unusual special edition of Black Ops III-----------------------------------------------

The Jugger-Nog is a special edition of Black Ops III which includes an actual mini-fridge!

5. The Nuketown population sign changes-------------------------------------------

In Black Ops the 'Welcome to Nuketown' sign will change population according to how many players are in the game.

6. Call of Duty on different platforms------------------------------------------

While the home consoles are the most popular platforms to play Call of Duty on it has also been released on handhelds such as the Nokia N-Gage, PSP and Pocket PC.
