A96 crash leaves one woman in a 'critical' condition in hospital

Another two people were also taken for treatment yesterday following the crash at Auldearn

A multi vehicle crash in the Highlands has left three people in hospital, with one woman said to be in a critical condition.

Emergency services rushed to the A96 junction at Auldearn at around 4:40pm.

A 74-year-old man and two women, aged 51 and 74 were taken to Raigmore Hospital for treatment.

The 74-year-old woman is described as being in a critical condition, while the 51-year-old woman is said to be in a serious but stable condition.

The collision involved a Black BMW Estate, a red Toyota Yaris and a green Toyota Hilux towing a trailer.

The road was closed while enquiries took place and re-opened around 1am this morning.

Police Scotland are urging anyone who may have seen the crash or have dash-cam footage to contact them.

Sergeant David Miller said: “We are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this crash and are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash or who was in the area around the time to contact us.

“In particular, if you have dash-cam footage that could assist with our investigation, please get in touch.”
