Fire crews battling wildfire in woods above Golspie

Firefighters were called around midnight after a blaze broke out at a tree plantation in Ben Bhraggie woods.

Fire crews are battling a wildfire in Ben Bhraggie woods, near to the Duke of Sutherland Monument, above Golspie.

They were called around midnight to the blaze at a tree plantation where large trees and scrubland had caught fire.

There are three different areas on fire with each 200 metres by 100 metres in size.

Three fire engines are still on site tackling the flames.

As control measures are put in place there may be temporary restrictions to roads in the vicinity.

Members of the public are requested to avoid the area until further notice whilst emergency services and estate staff control the fire.
