Steven Gerrard says he's on the hunt for a new midfielder as the Rangers boss looks to strengthen in the transfer market.

The Ibrox side have had a quiet window since drafting in Fashion Sakala, John Lundstram and Nnamdi Ofoborh on free transfers.

Gerrard hinted earlier in the month that their business may be done - but has now said he's looking to strengthen in midfield.

The Light Blues have been forced to rotate in the middle of the park so far this campaign with Glen Kamara serving a UEFA ban.

New signing John Lundstram has featured in four of their five matches and scored his first goal in the Premier Sports Cup against Livingston.

Steven Davis, Joe Aribo, Scott Arfield have also featured regularly with Ryan Jack still making his way back from injury.

Gerrard says he's keen to add another body into the mix.

He said: "There is a lot of hard work behind the scenes always going on.

"Whilst the window is still open you never know but I don't think there will be a huge amount of incomings.

"We are actively looking to strengthen in midfield, we will have to wait and see what happens."
