Hibs and Aberdeen pay tribute to fan who died following Viaplay Cup semi-final

Hibernian and Aberdeen have paid tribute to a supporter who sadly died shortly after Saturday's Viaplay Cup semi-final.

Hibs confirmed one of their fans passed away outside the National Stadium after the game had finished.

The club posted a tribute on social media shortly after their 1-0 defeat against Aberdeen.

It said: Hibernian FC are devastated to learn of the passing of one of our supporters outside Hampden Park after the game this evening.

The thoughts of everyone at the Club are with the gentleman’s family, friends and loved ones.

We send our condolences at this extremely sad time."

Aberdeen also issued a statement which said everyone at the club is 'deeply saddened' by the news and that they send their 'deepest condolences' to the man's loved ones.
