Steven Gerrard is urging his Rangers players to embrace the pressure of delivering more success to the football club.

The Ibrox side went unbeaten in the Premiership last campaign as they lifted the top flight title for the first time in a decade.

However, the Light Blues have hit a blip at the start of this season as they look to follow up on that trophy.

Rangers have lost three of their opening five fixtures in all competitions.

Two losses against Malmo ended their hopes of reaching the Champions League group stages, while defeat to Dundee United at Tannadice ended their 40-game unbeaten league run.

Gerrard says he's well aware of the historical significance of what they achieved last time out - but wants to make sure his players can bring more silverware back to Govan.

He told Sky Sports: "I have made it clear - and the board have made it clear - that there are fresh challenges and fresh challenges that we have put to the players.

"That is the way that I personally want it to be. We do not want to rest on our laurels, we want to be hungry.

"We live under the pressure on a daily basis - it is a pressure that needs to be embraced.

"We need to be excited about that and use it as motivation to make sure that this season is a success as well.

"Obviously, the club is built on success.

"Previous players and managers, those connected with the club, have built a really successful history here at the football club.

"Now it is our turn. It is our responsibility to add to that, to make sure that this club continues to be successful moving forward."
