Bookies slash odds for THIS name for Cheryl and Liam's baby boy

Cheryl and Liam Payne announced the lovely news that they'd welcomed a baby boy into the world last week and now fans of the couple are eager to know what they've decided to call their newborn.

Bookies have slashed the odds to 4/1 that the new parents will name their son Alfie, after Cheryl declared her love for the name a few years ago.

In an interview in 2015, Cheryl said, "Of course I’ve thought about baby names a million times. I like Alfie for a little boy. I love kids, I'm obsessed with babies."

Other names in the mix with fans include Henry, James, Taylor and Grayson.

Both Cheryl and Liam proudly confirmed the birth of the baby boy on Saturday night by posting the same cute photo of dad Liam cradling their son.

Alongside the snap, Cheryl wrote, 'On Wednesday 22nd March Liam and I became parents to an incredibly beautiful, healthy baby boy, weighing 7lb 9 and looking like a dream. Although he still doesn't have a name he is already stealing hearts. We are all madly in love and overwhelmingly happy with our little arrival. Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers around the world. A day that now has a different meaning to me forever 💙.'

Giving less details, Liam told fans how he was 'speechless' and gushed that the birth was his 'favourite moment' in life so far.

The One Direction singer also showed his appreciation for his girlfriend when he wrote, 'I'm completely in awe of his incredible mother and how she has been the whole way through this, she's really made my dreams come true.'

The news arrived just in time for Mother's Day with many of the couple's celebrity friends congratulating them on their new arrival.

Cheryl's former Girls Aloud band mates including Nadine Coyle, Sarah Harding and Kimberley Walsh all sent her messages, with best friend Nicola Roberts uploading a snap with Cheryl and Kimberley gushing over the pair.

Captioning the shot, Nicola wrote, 'Happy Mother's Day my 2/3rds @cherylofficial & @kimberleywalshofficial. Remember how we used to wonder what it would be like when we were older and the kids started coming ☄.. ❤️ you both and love so much that there's little bubba's here now 💙💙💙.'

Liam and Cheryl are yet to officially announce the name of their new born son.
