It was announced last week that Harry Styles' step-dad Robin Twist passed away at the age of 57 following a battle with cancer.

Now Harry's mum Anne Twist has taken to social media for the first time since her husband's death to thank fans for their support and kind messages.

Anne wrote, 'Thank you for all the love and support our family have been given... Robin would be humbled by the love you have all shown. Thank you ♥️'

Harry is yet to publicly write anything on social media about his step-dad's sad passing, however Harry's One Direction mates were quick to pay their respects to Robin.

After the tragic news broke last week, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan all shared touching messages of support to Harry and his family.

New dad Liam shared a photo of Robin and Harry's mum Anne and wrote, 'Harry my heart really goes out to you such an extremely sad day for us all who knew Robin. What a kind, gentle and beautiful soul, a true rarity to find in today's world. Sometimes they really do take the best of us far too soon. X'

'Slow Hands' singer Niall Horan also payed his respects. The Irish singer shared a snap with the words, 'Very sad to hear about the loss of Robin . For those who had the pleasure of knowing Robin will know that he was the nicest , kindest, most generous , hilariously funny guy you'll have met . He always had a smile on his face even when he was battling the terrible illness . Love ya H . Please give your mum and the rest of the family a massive hug from my family.' sic

Louis, who lost his own mum to cancer back in 2016, also showed his support on Twitter. Admitting Robin will be missed, Louis wrote, 'Devastated to hear the news about Robin . He was the such a lovely kind and funny guy. Sending all my love to the whole family.'

Despite not being his biological father, Harry was extremely close to Robin and even served as his best man when Robin married his mum Anne back in 2013.

Harry has often expressed his love for his mum. Just a few years ago he called her his 'best friend' and admitted he told her 'everything'.

It's understood Harry is gearing up for the promotional tour for his debut acting role in Christopher Nolan's 2017 film Dunkirk.

The 'Sign Of The Times' singer filmed scenes for the role last year and the hugely anticipated movie is due to land in cinemas next month.

The 23-year-old has also announced a 2018 solo music tour. This will be the first time Harry has toured on his own without his One Direction boys.

Our thoughts are with Harry, his mum and all of the family.
