Pumpkin Picking

From Saturday 20th October 2018 at Udny Green from 10am - 4pm

800 pumpkins UP FOR GRABS, so if you're a fan of carving pumpkins... THIS is where you need to go get them this year.

Udny Pumpkins are a family run pumpkin patch which first opened in 2017 to encourage people (especially children) to go and pick a pumpkin of their own for Halloween and learn about how pumpkins grow!

There are also animals near the patch which you can go and visit, as well as the sheep, the turkeys, hens and ducks.

We will say no more.

Watch our little video below.

Find out more and how to get there here.

Fun festival of Scarecrows

Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st October 2018 at Oyne Parish Church from 10am.

How AWESOME does this look?

This is the Insch 'Fun festival of scarecrows', where there is a chance to make your very own scarecrow!

If you don't want to make one... not to worry. There will be lots of scarecrows to see and you can watch them get judged.

There are prizes for the best children's scarecrow, adult's scarecrow and family scarecrow.

Everyone can get involved and all proceeds will go to Insch Primary School.

If you're heading along, you will also find a treasure hunt and just a heads up - there are prizes UP FOR GRABS! (We love prizes)

For all the information or if you want to get involved just head here.

GHOST HUNT: Paranormal Investigation

Friday 19th October 2018 at Pittodrie from 9pm.

Hidden Aberdeen Tours and Aberdeen Ghost Hunters present a very very very unique opportunity to take part in A REAL PARANORMAL INVESTIGATION!

It will be at the Trinity Cemetery on Kings Links.

Although the burial ground is relatively recent, there are other events which have happened nearby on Broadhill and Gallows Hill which have in the past generated potentially supernatural activity.

The Broadhill was the burial site for those hanged at the gallows of lesser crimes, and a terrible rape and murder took place there in the 1960s. The dead may be restless, even in their graves!

We may also have time to visit some of the sites which feature on the Murder History Tour, like 61 Urquhart Road (Sack Murder 1934) and 14 Jackson Terrace (Murder of Tommy Guyan 1963).

If you are BRAVE enough to join the tour and are keen to learn more about modern-day ghost hunting, pop along.

Just a few rules - you have to be over 18, no dogs allowed and it is not suitable for those of a nervous disposition, those with heart conditions, no alcohol permitted and bring some hot drinks and snacks, sensible clothing and sturdy footwear.

We've been told this event has no gimmicks, no tricks, no jumper ooters - it is all just science!

Murder, Mystery and Microscopes

Friday 19th October 2018 at The Science Centre in Aberdeen from 7pm.

You know Stuart MacBride?

Famous for his fabulous writing! He will be at the Aberdeen Science Centre on Friday 19th October to read an excerpt from his latest crime thriller novel called 'The Blood Road.'

If you fancy it, you can also get Stuart to SIGN HIS NEWEST BOOK FOR YA!

Also at the event, you will find...

Professor James Grieve, Meritus Professor and Forensic Pathologist, University of Aberdeen.

Professor Dave Barclay, world-renowned forensics expert and senior lecturer at Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen.

Professor Lorna Dawson CBE, soil forensic scientist and expert with the National Crime Agency.

All three experts will use their knowledge to discuss Stuart's novel and unearth the science behind crime fiction.

Tickets will cost you £10 and sounds like it will be a lot of fun, something a little different for a Friday night. For more just head to their Facebook page.

Whatever you get up to this weekend, we hope you have a fabulous one. We'll be back on your radio from 6am every weekday. You can listen live here.
