She broke down in the studio

Coleen Nolan made a return to Loose Women today to share the heartbreaking news that her sister Linda's cancer has returned.

Putting an end to the rumours about why she has been absent from the afternoon chat show, the Celebrity Big Brother winner admitted her sister had given her blessing for Coleen to break the sad news.

Admitting Linda's cancer had returned, Coleen said, "It's difficult to know where to start but about two and a half weeks ago, as you know my sister Linda had an accident at home, where she fell up the stairs and she broke her hip. She went to hospital and when they did the scan of her hip they found secondary cancer."

"They found a cyst attached to where the break was, on her pelvis, so it was just, earth-shattering for us initially. She's incredible and what they have said is, and the reason I didn’t come back, was she didn't want anybody to know at the time."

"But she wanted me to come back now, she didn't want me sitting round."

Despite the sad news, Coleen was quick to stress Linda's cancer was treatable, despite it not being curable. The 52-year-old added the family are focusing on the positives and revealed the cancer has not spread.

58-year-old Linda previously battled breast cancer in 2006, with their other sister Bernie losing her own battle with the vicious disease in 2013.

Loose Women viewers were quick to send their messages of love towards the Nolan family on Twitter.

Coleen later took to Twitter to thank fans for their 'kind messages' and admitted she would pass them on to Linda.

Linda appeared on Loose Women back in February to show off the results of her £6,000 face lift.

Surprising Coleen in the studio, Linda showed off her new look for the first time since her operation.

Coleen admitted Linda wanted her to return to work and stressed, "Linda wants to get it across she is not dying of cancer, she is getting treated for cancer."
