Popular reality show The Only Way Is Essex returned to our TV screens last night as the 22nd series kicked off in style with the likes of Gemma Collins, James Locke, Bobby Norris and Georgia Kousoulou.

With the usual drama between cast mates returning for the new series, it didn't take long for fans of the show to live tweet along with the new episode. But one particular scene seemed to steal the show for all of the wrong reasons!

As new girl Clelia Theodorou was filmed having a heated phone call with Amber Turner, viewers of the show took to Twitter to announce they'd spotted a major blunder in the scene.

As Clelia held the phone up against her ear, eagle-eyed viewers were quick to spot she hadn't actually pressed 'dial' on the call, meaning she wasn't on the phone to anybody.

Oops! 🙈

Comments from fans quickly flooded in, with many calling the show out for being 'fake'...

Of course this isn't the first time TOWIE has been called 'fake' by viewers. Back in 2016 fans slammed Meghan McKenna's 'poor acting' as she made her debut on the reality show. And viewers have pointed out a number of other errors made by the cast.

However, it seems the show is still very popular with fans!

On last night's show viewers witnessed the reunion between Gemma Collins and James 'Arg' Argent. After months of rumours about the pair's relationship, Gemma and Arg kissed on the show, said ‘I love you’, and set up a joint bank account.

Gemma later opened up to Chloe Sims about Arg, saying, "I can't think about nothing but James morning, noon and night. Thank you the big man up there for finally giving me James.

"It's not about the candy any more, when he wakes up he holds me and embraces me and says 'I'm just so in love with you'. I don't even call him Arg any more, I call him James. He's finally the man I always want him to be."

TOWIE continues every Wednesday and Sunday on ITVBe.
