A sports shop in Aberdeenshire has been broken into this morning.

The windows of Braemar Mountain Sports were smashed and several items of clothing were taken.

It happened at around 2.50am.

Officers in particular are appealing for anyone with information about two vehicles seen in the area around the time in question - a red Mini and silver Passat - to come forward.

Both vehicles have since been recovered in Aberdeen.

They were stolen from outside homes in Huntly and Braemar earlier this week.

Detective Inspector Stuart McAdam said: "Enquiries are at a very stage and several lines of enquiry are currently being pursued.

"I would urge anyone who was in the area around the time to contact Police on 101 as soon as possible if you believe you have any information that could assist. If you would prefer to remain anonymous contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

"Crimes of this nature are extremely rare in the community and I can assure the public that the safety and security of businesses in the area is a priority for Police Scotland."
