EXCLUSIVE: Student spiked by injection fears for long term health

A woman who believes she was spiked via injection on a night out in Aberdeen is telling Northsound 1 News she fears for her long term health.
Emma, who didn't want to give her surname, is a student at the University of Aberdeen, and originally from Kilwinning in Ayshire.
She became unwell following a night out on Friday, and has been left with what she thinks is a puncture mark.
She told Northsound 1 News : "After a certain time of night, I don't have any memory or recollection of what happened, the whole night was kind of blacked out. It wasn't until the next day when I woke up, that my friends told me what had happened.
"I just knew something wasn't right."
Emma added: "The rest of the day after, I couldn't get out of my bed, I couldn't stand up without feeling as if I was going to pass out. I kept going from hot to cold, and I had a really, really sore head, it was almost like a really bad hangover.
Emma told us that she spoke to the police in Aberdeen about what had happened, but was told that they couldn't do anything as she had waited too long to get her blood checked out, and there wouldn't be any evidence to back up her claims.
Emma then decided to go to A&E, fearing for any further health impacts that could arise from a dirty needle potentially being used.
"I got my bloods taken for future reference in case I end up with HIV or Hepatitis B or anything in the future and they've started me on a course for Hepatitis B to prevent it from happening."
Emma told us that she's now worried for her long term health. "I could end up really ill from this, because you don't know where the needles came from, we don't know how they've been using it or where they've been using it.
"It's not just how you feel that day or the day after, it can be long term."
Police Scotland now say they are investigating the report, despite earlier not listing Aberdeen as a location in their list of incidents.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We are making enquiries into a drug spiking incident, reported to have occurred on Friday, 15 October, at a premises in Aberdeen City Centre. Our enquiries are at an early stage."
More case of spiking by injection across Scotland
Police Scotland say they're investigating a number of incidents of spiking by injection across the country, but they believe the reports are not linked.
There have been a number of reports on social media of being spiked via injection at pubs and nightclubs across Scotland are not believed to be linked, say Police Scotland.

It follows a number of reports of incidents across the country, including in the Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dundee areas.
In a statement, Police Scotland: "We are aware of posts circulating on social media about spiking incidents involving injections in Scotland.
They added: "We take all reports seriously and we would encourage anyone who believes they have been a victim of spiking in any form to contact Police via 101.”
