On Sunday he sent this tweet to the SNP's Mark McDonald: "i feel sorry for his wife & family using them as political tools. some people never learn family sacred"
The Finance Convenor inititally told Northsound News he stood by his tweet, and said said Mr McDonald admitted he talked about his family to raise awareness of autism.
But now he says he's apologising for any offence caused.
Mark McDonald has written to Council Leader Jenny Laing to complain about Councillor Young's behaviour.
