Oil and Gas sector hoping for tax relief

The oil industry has its fingers crossed for the chancellor's autumn statement. George Osborne is expected to reduce the tax burden in the North Sea, to give the offshore sector a much needed boost.

Will George Osborne give the North Sea a helping hand today? It's the chancellor's Autumn Statement, and the oil and gas industry's hoping for a reduced tax burden. The offshore sector's been struggling with the low price of oil and high production costs. Industry body Oil and Gas UK say they need more money coming in so there's a future for the North Sea. George Osborne will deliver his statement at lunchtime.
