Searches to trace missing person Shaun Ritchie are continuing with particularly challenging areas of terrain now being tackled.

It is four weeks since the 20-year-old was last seen and a number of specialist resources have been deployed and are continuing to be utilised.

Resources which have been used include specialist searchers, the Police Scotland helicopter, the marine and dive unit, dog handlers and volunteers from mountain rescue teams.

Items of Shaun's clothing were recovered as part of the early stages of the enquiry which would have placed Shaun in the Greenburn area. It is possible that he may have become disorientated and sought shelter in the localised area but officers have still been unable to trace him.

He was last seen after he had been for a night out in Fraserburgh on Friday, October 31, 2014.

Local Policing Inspector Simon Reid said: "We want to stress this is still a missing person enquiry.

"We have carried out detailed searches of the areas around where his clothing was found but it is difficult terrain and it will take us some time to complete this.

"It is now four weeks since he was last seen and we are increasingly concerned for his welfare. His family haven't heard from him and that would be out of character. It is possible that he may have sought shelter so we would again appeal to people with outbuildings or sheds to check these and report anything unusual to us."
