Following the news recently that UK rapper Wiley, real name Richard Cowie, posted a number of anti-Semitic comments on both Twitter and Instagram, many celebrities have come together to join a planned Twitter 'walkout' in support of #NoSafeSpaceForJewHate.

The 'walkout' follows criticism of the time it took Twitter to remove posts, with tweets still visible 12 hours after they were first posted.

On Saturday, singer Jessie Ware took to Twitter explaining, 'So many ppl asked @Twitter to stop @WileyCEO from spreading his poisonous antisemitic rhetoric and they did nothing for too long. It is unacceptable #nosafespaceforjewhate'.

She also shared an image which read, 'Jews and our allies will stage a 48 hour walkout from twitter from 09:00 on Monday 27th July.'

Gogglebox's Amy Tapper has also shared an Instagram Story saying, 'I am going silent for 48 hours on social media… I hope you guys take this time to educate yourselves.'

With former EastEnders actress Tracy-Ann Oberman also tweeting her support for the campaign saying, 'And we’re out. #NoSafeSpaceForJewHate #48HoursSilence @Twitter sort your site out'.

Other celebrities who support the campaign include Harry Potter actor, Jason Isaacs who retweeted Eddie Marsan adding, 'I’m in. Or out, rather. I’m so used to antisemitic hatred, caricature and conspiracy theories from governments, looneytunes, the left, right and reasonable middle that I long ago lost hope for change online or in life.'

This follows Wiley's management announcing on Twitter that they would be cutting ties with the artist.

Police are now investigating the comments made on the Wiley's Instagram and Twitter accounts on Friday that led to him being banned from both platforms for seven days.

Wiley's offensive tweets have now been removed, however his accounts still remain. Nicknamed the 'godfather of grime', Wiley has had success in the UK with 14 albums, 29 singles, and has more than 940,000 followers on his Twitter and Instagram accounts.
