How is Lewis Capaldi related to Peter Capaldi?

Lewis discovered that Peter is his dad’s second cousin - making Lewis and Peter Capaldi second cousins once removed.

Lewis told the Daily Record: "My dad and my aunties told me we were related to Peter a while ago, I think he’s my dad’s second cousin. Whenever he came on the TV they’d always say, 'You’re related to Malcolm Tucker' or 'You’re related to Doctor Who'."

What has Lewis Capaldi said about being related to Peter Capaldi?

He told the Big Issue: "We were at the record label and I was explaining what I wanted to do to raise awareness with this video. Very flippantly I was like, 'We could ask Peter Capaldi'.

"My manager had his email from when he came down to the show last year, he emailed and literally the next day, my manager gets a phone call from Peter saying, 'Mate, I’d love to do this, send me over the script, I’d be honoured to be involved'."

What has Peter Capaldi said about being related to Lewis Capaldi?

Peter added to the Big Issue: "Lewis is an amazing talent - I’m not just saying that because of his name – Capaldi or not, he’s remarkable."

Referring to Lewis' music video that Peter featured in, he added: "And I was happy to draw attention to organ donation."

Which Lewis Capaldi music video did Peter Capaldi star in?

Lewis even enlisted the help of Peter to star in his music video for hit song 'Someone You Loved', which was made in partnership with charity organisation Live Life Give Life in order to raise awareness for the issue of organ donation.

Speaking at the time the video was released, Lewis told the West Lothian Courier: "Despite being related, prior to the video I’d only met Peter once when he came along to a show of mine in London last year.

"It was such a massive honour getting to work with him and director Phil Beastall over the two days we shot. He’s absolutely incredible in the video and I’m so proud of how it turned out."
