This coming bank holiday Friday (8th May), we’re excited to announce that we’ll be paying tribute to Queen legend Brian May all day on Planet Rock with Brian May Day.

Throughout the day, we’ll be playing a series of Brian May’s favourite songs that he personally cherry-picked during guest slots on My Planet Rocks over the years.

We’ll also be mining Queen’s illustrious back catalogue and playing some of their finest songs and biggest anthems from their fabled career.

Alongside this, during Wyatt’s show (10am) and Darren Redick’s show (2pm), we’ll be taking listener requests across the eight hours. You don’t have to be a Brian to make the request, but it might help you get on air if you are!

Brian will also be joining Wyatt on air for a chat!

And Brian's good friends, Kings Daughters, shall be dropping by to share what it was like creating lockdown hit, GET UP, with the rock legend.

Make sure you tune into Planet Rock for Brian May Day! You can find out all the ways to listen to Planet Rock right here.

Our very own Toby Jepson recently performed a cover of ‘A Night of the Opera’ classic ‘39’ – written by Brian May – from his home during lockdown.

Explaining why he decided to cover ’39’, Toby said: "Here is my version of ‘39’ by my favourite band of all time Queen.

“One of the highlights of the ‘A Night at the Opera’ album for me and a song that I’ve been playing to myself since I was about 14.

“Again, I can’t get near it, but I love it so much, I HAD to pay tribute to Brian for this wonderful piece of writing.

“A timeless beauty."
