The Cinderella vocalist took ill shortly before playing a gig at Jergel’s Rhythm Grille in Warrendale, Pennsylvania and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

In a statement issued by his publicist on Sunday evening, it was confirmed that Keifer is in a “stable condition” and that he was suffering from the effects of “heat exhaustion and severe dehydration.”

It reads: "Tom Keifer was, regretfully, forced to postpone his performance in Warrendale, PA last night following his collapse prior to the show.

“Keifer was transported to a local hospital where he underwent tests and was kept overnight. Doctors confirm that Keifer is in stable condition and believe the episode points to heat exhaustion and severe dehydration.

“Keifer was given fluids, is resting comfortably, and is expected to be released later today. He plans to return to his performance schedule later in the week."

Keifer’s next scheduled live show is due to take place at Arkansas State Fair on Friday night (20th October) and he has 10 further shows locked in for the rest of the year.

In similar circumstances to Keifer, last month Glenn Hughes was hospitalised after falling ill on stage at the Horncastle Arena in New Zealand due to “fatigue and dehydration.”

Releasing a video message to fans the following day, Glenn said: “Last night was a bit of a hiccup, I had dehydration from not drinking enough water: not to self, Mr Hughes, drink water.”
