David Gilmour says he’s open to the idea of a Pink Floyd hologram show

But only under ‘very difficult and onerous conditions’

David Gilmour has said he would not necessarily be opposed to a Pink Floyd hologram show in the vein of ABBA’s Voyage ‘virtual concert’, but only under certain conditions.

Speaking during an interview with Uncut, the guitarist revealed that he had been to see the ABBA show and appeared to have mixed feelings about it.

He said: “If you were a determined ABBA fan, you might enjoy it. I thought the images of them were sort of OK, but they weren’t ever going to convince me it was real.

“If you’re down the sort of mosh pit end of the thing and it’s all going on, it’s probably great. The best moment for me was when the live band played a song (‘Does Your Mother Know’) on their own.”

Asked if a Pink Floyd version could ever materialize, he replied: “If someone came up with all the money and all the brilliant ideas – and then once we’ve agreed to a series of very, very difficult and onerous conditions – I’d say, ‘Yeah, OK.’”

KISS look likely be the next big act to plunge fully into the holographic or virtual arena, having already introduced their avatars at the end of their farewell tour.

“Today, A New Era Begins. #KISSARMY, the end is only the beginning!” the band wrote on social media. “KISS have been immortalized and reborn as avatars to rock forever.”

It has been reported that Swedish entertainment and music investment firm Pophouse, who were involved in putting together the ABBA Voyage show, have purchased the KISS brand and catalogue.

“We’re going to figure it out after the tour,” Pophouse CEO Per Sundin told the BBC on what any future KISS avatar show might look like. "Is it a KISS concert in the future? Is it a rock opera? Is it a musical? A story, an adventure?”

Jimmy Page has previously revealed that the surviving members of Led Zeppelin were also approached with the idea of launching a virtual show. The members were unable to agree on the prospective project, however, so it “didn’t really get moving”.
