Elles Bailey premieres video for new song 'Hole in my Pocket' – watch

Lifted from the deluxe reissue of 'Shining in The Half Light'

Elles Bailey
Author: Scott ColothanPublished 9th Feb 2023

Fresh from wowing at Winter’s End 2023, Elles Bailey has premiered her new song ‘Hole in my Pocket’ and its accompanying music video.

Powered by Elles’ truly knockout vocals, 'Hole in my Pocket' is an instantly infectious tune that perfectly showcases Elles’ eclectic musical palette of blues, roots rock and Americana.

Co-penned by Elles Bailey and Matt Owens, the track features Joe Wilkins on guitar, Jonny Henderson on piano, Matthew Waer on bass and Matthew Jones on drums. Grace Lightman, Elio Evangelou and Kat Marsh provide backing vocals.

The ‘Hole in my Pocket’ video was filmed by Kris Barras at Middle Farm Studios in Devon and captures Elles and her band in their live glory.

Watch Elles Bailey’s ‘Hole in my Pocket’ video:

'Hole in my Pocket' features on the new expanded deluxe edition of Elles Bailey’s critically acclaimed album ‘Shining in The Half Light’, which lands digitally and on CD on Friday 17th March 2023.

The expanded version of the album also boasts the new song ‘Spinning Stopped’ plus covers of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s ‘Long As I See The Light’ and John Martyn’s ‘Over The Hill’, and five live tracks.

Elles Bailey says: “So many of you have asked for a deluxe version of ‘Shining in the Half Light’ including some live tracks from the record’s playlist. So, I got the whole cast together to record 5 of the tracks live at The Pool.

“It has been the one and only time we have been able to get the Shining in the Half Light crew all together in one room: a very special moment indeed, particularly in light of the experiences of the last few years. But it felt like it wasn’t enough; that we still had more of the story to tell.

“To do that, the band and I headed back to Devon in December 2022 — to Middle Farm Studios – exactly two years to date since the original recording —and there we tracked two new originals and two covers. These we recorded and mixed live to tape with no computers at all: a complete first for me and part of a beautiful learning curve.

“I think these tracks showcase this incredible band at their finest. It was a real blessing to make these tracks all together. It wasn’t about creating a ‘perfect’ recording, but about capturing a little spark of musical magic.”
