Guitar virtuoso Joe Bonamassa has premiered the video for his epic new song ‘When One Door Opens’.

Clocking in at just under eight minutes and opening with Bond-esque orchestrals, ‘When One Door Opens’ is a musically ambitious soundscape that starts off in rock ballad territory complete with tender vocals from Joe, sweeping strings and sublime instrumentation.

Just over midway through, the track swiftly evolves into a much heavier musical beast thanks to crushing riffs, urgent vocals, pulsating rhythms and a transcendental guitar solo from Joe, before the final minute soothes the senses once again.

Recorded at London’s world-famous Abbey Road Studios at the start of 2020, Joe co-wrote ‘When One Door Opens’ alongside his long-term producer Kevin Shirley and songwriter Pete Brown who is famous for his many collaborations with Cream and Jack Bruce.

The accompanying video captures Joe and his band laying down ‘When One Door Opens’ at Abbey Road:

Joe says of ‘When One Door Opens’: “This is the first track off my new album and I'm very excited for everyone to hear it.”

More details about the album, including the title, track-listing and release date are yet to be revealed.

Back in April, Joe Bonamassa released the single ‘A Conversation With Alice’, which was also recorded at Abbey Road in January.

Unfortunately, ‘A Conversation With Alice’ doesn’t refer to Planet Rock’s very own Alice Cooper – instead it’s the alias of a therapist Joe spoke with about some reoccurring problems he’d been facing in life but found that these ‘problems’ ultimately paved the way to his success.

Joe Bonamassa also launched his new project The Sleep Eazys earlier in the spring, who released their nine-track instrumental album ‘Easy To Buy, Hard To Sell’ in April.
