Addressing the audience on stage on the KISS Kruise over the weekend, frontman Paul Stanley said their tour will end where KISS formed 46 years ago.

"We've been on the 'End Of The Road' tour, and people have said, 'When is the last show?'" frontman Paul Stanley said. "So, we're here to tell you that the end of the road comes to an end on July 17, 2021 in New York City."

“Now, we’ve already done 90 shows, played to over 2million people, we’re about to put up 90 more shows. We’ve got a lot of great stuff planned to give the ending you all deserve.

Stanley then unveiled a countdown clock revealing there are 622 days until KISS call it quits. Watch the announcement here:

KISS played UK arena shows in Birmingham, London, Manchester, Newcastle and Glasgow in July as part of the End of the Road World Tour.

They will play their last UK show ever on the hallowed turf of Donington Park when they headline Download Festival on Friday 12th June 2020

When the headline slot was announced in September, Gene Simmons said: “I’ve said it before, Download Festival audiences are the best. They are up for whatever is thrown at them.  KISS is going to come fully prepared to rock their world in 2020 to say ‘Thank You’ for always showing up for us.”

Also headlined by Iron Maiden and System of a Down, tickets to Download Festival are on sale from Planet Rock Tickets now.

Speaking to KISS’s impending retirement from touring, Paul Stanley told Rolling Stone recently: "We can't be running around for that much longer in 40 pounds of gear. There's nothing maudlin about it. It's a celebration with our fans around the world.

"We wanted to raise the bar again as to what a band can do live. That's really what we've always done: we've always wanted to be the band we never saw. There are a lot of shows out there that have KISS DNA in them because they really weren't shows of any magnitude before us."

The Download Festival 2020 line-up so far is as follows:

KISS (Friday headliner)
Iron Maiden (Saturday headliner)
System of a Down (Sunday headliner)
Deftones
Korn
Disturbed
The Offspring
