Gene Simmons explains how the 'immortal' KISS will continue after final show
A live experience is already being planned
Gene Simmons has insisted that KISS’ final show next month on Saturday 2nd December will be the “end of the road for the band” but “not the brand.”
KISS will draw the curtain on their live career with the second of two shows at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Saturday 2nd December 2023.
In a new interview with Canada’s 519 Magazine, Gene Simmons has explained how KISS will live on when the End of the Road World Tour finishes.
“This tour is the end of the road for the band, not the brand. KISS is a universe of its own—movies, merchandise, maybe even Broadway. The band will end, but the KISS experience… it’s immortal,” Simmons said.
“You’re very smart in seeing that. We are the hardest-working band on stage. I’ve got 40 pounds of armour and all the rest of it and seven-inch platform heels. Each of the dragon boots weighs as much as a bowling ball. Physically, it’s tough to do that.”
He added: “KISS will continue. There’s a KISS museum in Las Vegas at the Rio called KISS World, and oh my goodness, we have KISS cruises, a movie coming out, and we’re working on a cartoon show, a lot of stuff. And of course, all the fun toys and games that will continue.”
Confirming that a live experience is already being planned, Simmons added: “The KISS show will live on in different ways. Yes, that’s being planned.
“It’ll also be four to ten different travelling shows. So, you’ll be able to be in Japan and have Japanese actors, musicians being us, and at the same time you could go to Vegas or New York or London.”
Asked if founding guitarist Ace Frehley and drummer Peter Criss will join KISS on stage at their final concert, Simmons replied: “It’s no secret we’ve had our share of ups and downs. Ace and Peter are brothers in KISS, and the door was always open for them to join us on this last go-around.
“But this isn’t a fairy tale; it’s real life. Egos, personalities, addictions—they’ve all played their parts.”
KISS’s final show will be available to watch on pay-per-view in the UK at 1am on Sunday 3rd December, and livestream tickets costing £12.27 are available to order on the PPV.COM website.
