Massive Wagons to headline show celebrating late Hairy Biker Dave Myers

There's a special 'Dave Day' event in his hometown of Barrow

Massive Wagons say it is an “immense honour” to headline a special show in remembrance of the late Dave Myers, former Planet Rock presenter and one half of the Hairy Bikers.

The concert takes place at the Raiders rugby stadium in Myers’ home town of Barrow-in-Furness on Saturday 8th June.

It will be part of a special ‘Dave Day’ that will also feature a mass motorcycle ride led by Myers’ best friend and fellow Hairy Biker Si King.

Two charities chosen by Dave’s widow Liliana – NSPCC Childline and the Institute of Cancer Research - will benefit from fundraising around the event.

Massive Wagons will headline the live show bringing the day to a conclusion.

Joining them on the bill are Blue Nation, Maiden Cumbria, The Silver Bars, Jordan Gaffney, God Damn Smile, The Dales and Route 66. All bands are giving their time for free and the whole event is being organised by volunteers.

Massive Wagons frontman Barry 'Baz' Mills says: “It’s an immense honour to be asked to play at Dave Day in remembrance of Dave Myers. Although our paths never crossed in person we came from the same world, I’m a biker, a big fan of rock music and we both hail from the grim north, haha!

“I think Dave was the kinda guy everyone felt a connection with, he was a lovely humble down to earth chap who was extremely open and honest about his life and loves. It’s a real sad loss but I think Dave Day is the perfect way to remember and celebrate him, and we are honoured to be part of it.”

Tickets are priced at £10 each, with all surplus monies after costs going to the two chosen charities.
