Metallica’s 1986 thrash classic Master Of Puppets has been named as the greatest Heavy Metal album of all time in a public poll.

In Music Radar’s latest poll Metallica’s third album easily beat its competition to the top spot, attracting 20% of the votes.

Mike Goldsmith, Editor-in-Chief of MusicRadar.com, said: "Whether it’s AC/DC soundtracking Iron Man 2, Rage Against the Machine getting the Xmas number one or Iron Maiden winning a Brit, heavy metal is no longer an underground concern. Over 6,000 musicians and metalheads agree and have voted in what is MusicRadar.com’s most popular poll yet.
