Shortly before their triumphant show in London, James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo handed over cheques for £24,000 to two separate charities – City Harvest London and Magic Breakfast - via their non-profit All Within My Hands Foundation.

Metallica wrote: “Each ticket sold for #MetInLondon has helped @Metallica raise this money in support of both @CityHarvest_LDN and @magic_breakfast as each organization works to feed the hungry in their communities. #MetallicaGivesBack #AWMH”

City Harvest London, who distribute food to organisations that feed the hungry in London, said: “Thank you so much @AWMHFoundation. Your generous donation will help us feed thousands of people. It was a night to remember!”

Child nutrition charity Magic Breakfast: Fuel For Learning deliver healthy breakfasts to children who would otherwise be too hungry to learn.

Founder Carmel McConnell MBE tweeted: “Thank you @Metallica you big hearted lovely people. We’ll use this wisely to help children in hunger hit schools.”

On Tuesday, Manchester based homeless charity Coffee4Craig said that Metallica’s generous £40,000 donation will fund their work helping homeless people over the next year.

Alongside the donation to Coffee4Craig, Metallica invited 20 rough sleepers to the Manchester Etihad Stadium concert last night via the charity Shelter.

Founded in February 2017, Metallica’s All Within My Hands Foundation’s aim is to create sustainable communities by supporting workforce education, the fight against hunger, and other critical local services.

Metallica always donate to local charities on pit stops on their tour dates and back in June 2018 gave their entire £85,000 Polar Music Prize money to three separate Swedish charities.

When wildfires were ravaging California in November 2018, Metallica donated $100,000 to wildfire relief efforts through their All Within My Hands Foundation.
