What a phenomenal gig!
In the latest instalment of their weekly streaming series #MetallicaMondays, heavy metal giants Metallica have uploaded their entire Manchester Etihad Stadium concert in 2019 to YouTube.
Part of the band’s WorldWired Stadium tour, Metallica played Etihad Stadium on Tuesday 18th June 2019, and, in typical Manchester style, the heavens duly opened for a biblical downpour throughout the set.
However, rather than dampen the atmosphere at the capacity show, the deluge of rain actually heightened it and made the concert a more dramatic live experience.
Introducing the stream of the Manchester gig, Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo called it a truly “kickass show.”
He said: “My memories of it are pretty clear, it was an infamous rainy gig – just pounding rain! Great for the photo op but memorable. Just very powerful to be playing out there.
“Sometimes those conditions bring insane energy and the backdrop was pretty spectacular. They’re not the easiest gigs to play (in the rain) but pretty memorable.”

The triumphant Manchester gig also saw Metallica’s Robert Trujillo and Kirk Hammett perform a cover of The Stone Roses’ ‘I Wanna Be Adored’ as part of their ‘doodle’ segment.
While in the city, Metallica also did their bit for charity by donating £40,000 to Manchester based homeless charity Coffee4Craig via their non-profit All Within My Hands Foundation.
