Mötley Crüe play ultra-intimate UK gig in front of 450 fans – photos

In rock music’s worst-kept secret since Foo Fighters unveiled themselves as The Churnups at Glastonbury, Mötley Crüe performed an ultra-intimate gig in London on Friday night (30th June) under their pseudonym Dögs Of War.

Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee, Vince Neil and John 5 began teasing the Dögs Of War concert at The Underworld in Camden just over a week ago when they shared a poster for the mystery band.

Unsurprisingly, Dögs Of War did indeed turn out to be Mötley Crüe and the band tore through a 45-minute set peppered with anthems including ‘Shout At The Devil’, ‘Dr. Feelgood’ and ‘Girls Girls Girls’ in front of just 450 fans.

The 11-song performance also boasted the live debut of Mötley Crüe’s cover of Beastie Boys’ ‘(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!).’

Mötley Crüe previously played a secret gig as The Four Skins at London’s Marquee Club in August 1991 a day before they performed at the legendary Monsters of Rock festival at Donington Park.

Commenting on The Underworld concert, Mötley Crüe said: “This wasn't our first time playing a SECRET club show and it will definitely not be the last. We love doing this, especially before larger shows. We love when we can play these intimate shows for our fans.”

A day after performing at The Underworld, Mötley Crüe co-headlined London’s Wembley Stadium with Def Leppard, and they played Lytham Festival last night (2nd July).
