Neal Schon invites Steve Perry to join his Journey Through Time shows
Neal Schon has extended an open invitation to his former Journey band mate Steve Perry to join his upcoming Journey Through Time shows.
Celebrating Journey’s distinguished musical history from the early days to present day, Neal Schon’s Journey Through Time takes in two Californian shows at Jackson’s Rancheria Casino Resort on Friday 22nd February and Oakland’s Fox Theater the following night.
Schon’s band on the night features Gregg Rolie, Deen Castronovo, Marti Frederiksen, Marco Mendoza and Chris Collins.
Taking to Twitter earlier this week, Schon reached out to Steve Perry to appear at the shows, writing: “Here’s an Open invitation to Steve Perry to come out on ether the 22nd or 23rd would love to see you Steve.”

Despite Schon’s invitation, it seems highly unlikely that Steve Perry will appear as he has quashed the idea of reuniting with Journey multiple times since he returned to the fray with his new solo album ‘Traces’ last year.
Asked by Rolling Stone last October if he’d ever work with Neal Schon again, Perry replied: “I’m not sure that’s possible without stirring up hopes of a reunion.
“Please listen to me. I left the band 31 f***ing years ago, my friend. You can still love someone, but not want to work with them. And if they only love you because they want to work with you, that doesn’t feel good to me.”
Similarly, questioned about a Journey reunion by New York's 106.7 Lite FM in September, Perry said: “I think that we've gone on our separate ways and we’re doing great. Arnel (Pineda) is a great singer and he's been in the band for 10 years.
“But yeah, I don't think that's where I'm at right now. It took forever for me to find the passion for music again because I felt it was kind of damaged. I thought I would never feel that love again for music, so I had to walk. Now that I've found that again, I have so many other songs ready to be recorded.”
